There is a ton of information out there on caring for your leather products so we won't go into the details too extensively but below are some of our thoughts and recommendations

Regular Maintenance

To optimize the life span of your leather goods and ensure they continue to look good and perform, they should be conditioned at least once every six months. Items used more frequently and in outdoor conditions should be conditioned even more often.

Products

Do some research on what products are right for you or contact us and we can help you out. Products we recommend are Obenauf's Leather Conditioner, Leather Honey Leather Conditioner, 100% Pure Neatfoot Oil and Mink Oil. All of these tend to darken your leather and should not be over applied. Test the product you choose on a small, ideally hidden, portion of your leather product first if possible.

Moisture

We mainly use veg tan leathers and while they are treated and finished with water resistant finishes, if exposed to water they will absorb it. We recommend you allow the leather to dry thoroughly before using again to avoid stretching and warping. Once dry, if you notice the leather has become ridged or even brittle, it should be oiled or conditioned.

Heat

Extreme heat is not great for leather as it dries it out and makes it brittle. But if cared for properly leather can survive even this. If your leather products are exposed to the sun or extreme heat often you will need to increase the frequency of your leather inspections looking for cracks, brittleness and lightening of color. Any signs of additional wear should be treated with leather conditioner or oil.
